Cable Installations & Primary Substation

The Thetford Cable Route & Civil’s Build project entailed the excavation of a cable route spanning 6 km, comprising dual 33KV Circuits and fibre optic infrastructure. This route extends from UK Power Networks Barnham Sub station to the Kingsfleet development site, positioned adjacent to A1075 Norwich Road just before the A11 junction. The project presented numerous logistical complexities, including the coordination of intricate connections such as the integration with a Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) beneath a local river, spanning 9 meters in length and depth. Meticulous planning, engineering expertise, and close collaboration with stakeholders where essential to overcoming these challenges. The project aims where to enhance regional power infrastructure, supporting the energy needs of the Kingsfleet development and fostering sustainable growth in the Thetford area.

Project Highlights

Excavation of 6km Cable Route, Dual 33KV Circuits and Fibre Optic Infrastucture, Horizontal Direction Drill (HDD Integration), Stakeholder Collaboration and Engineering Expertise, Construction of New Primary Substation, Transformer Bunds and Customer Switch-room Construction, Ducting Installation and Drainage Systems & Meticulous Planning and Execution.

Meticulous planning, engineering expertise required.

Building upon the success of the Thetford Cable Route & Civil’s Build project, we secured a significant milestone by winning the tender submission to construct a new primary substation. This comprehensive endeavour involves the construction of two transformer bunds, a customer switch-room, CCTV bases, ground engineering works, ducting installation, drawpits, drainage systems, manholes, and palisade fencing. The project requires meticulous planning, precise execution, and adherence to strict safety and quality standards. By leveraging our expertise and experience gained from the Thetford project, we were committed to delivering a high-quality substation that meets the operational requirements and contributes to the reliability and resilience of the regional power infrastructure.
