Burwell Solar Farm will be an important source of low carbon electricity and will help meet the average annual domestic electricity requirements of up to 9,500 households.
In August 2020 East Cambridgeshire District Council granted planning permission for Burwell Solar Farm.
The 80 hectare site located in Burwell in south east Cambridgeshire will have a generating capacity of 49.8 MW and will connect directly to the national grid substation at Burwell.
The site is in the preparation and construction stage, with the expectation that first generation will be in Q4 2022, with the solar farm becoming fully operational by March 2023.
